Podolski played his farewell match in front of 50,000 fans
On October 10, a farewell match for former Germany striker Lukas Podolski was held at the home stadium of FC Köln in front of 50,000 fans.
In this match, Podolski's Team triumphed over Köln. Lukas played for his team in the first half, scoring the opening goal. With the score at 5-0 at halftime, he switched sides and, in the second half, found the net again while also providing an assist for Köln. The match concluded with Podolski's Team winning 5-3.
Following the game, the 2014 World Cup champion received a standing ovation from the crowd. The commemorative match featured many of Lukas’s well-known former teammates, including Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Per Mertesacker, as well as coaches Hansi Flick and Joachim Löw.
