Police arrest four Atletico fans for inciting abuse against Vinicius
Spanish police have arrested four Atletico Madrid fans who allegedly called for racist abuse against Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.
According to Marca, the arrested individuals, aged between 24 and 26, face charges of inciting hatred. Authorities have indicated that further arrests may be forthcoming in connection with this case.
It is worth noting that the La Liga match between Atletico and Real Madrid, which ended in a 1-1 draw, was halted for 15 minutes due to the behaviour of fans in the stands. Supporters were reported to have shouted insults and thrown various objects at goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. As a consequence of their actions, Atletico Madrid has been penalised with a partial closure of their stands for three home matches and a fine of €45,000.
