Rodri surpasses Vinicius by 41 points in ballon d'Or Voting
It has been revealed that Manchester City midfielder Rodri edged out Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior by 41 points in the Ballon d'Or voting.
According to L'Equipe, the Spanish player accumulated 1,170 points, while the Brazilian secured 1,129.
Rodri becomes the third Spanish footballer in history to win the Ballon d'Or, following in the footsteps of Alfredo Di Stefano (1957, 1959) and Luis Suárez Miramontes (1960). Last season, the 28-year-old midfielder won both the English Premier League and the FIFA Club World Cup with Manchester City, and also achieved European Championship success with the Spanish national team.
During the past campaign, the City player's impressive performance included nine goals and 14 assists across 50 club appearances. At Euro 2024, Rodri contributed one goal in six matches.
