Sanctions Announced for Atlético Madrid Due to Fans' Conduct in Derby Against Real Madrid
Sanctions have been announced for Atlético Madrid due to the behavior of fans during the eighth round La Liga match against Real Madrid (1:1), reports As.
The Atlético vs. Real Madrid match at the Metropolitano was halted for 15 minutes after home fans threw lighters and other objects at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was celebrating a goal.
The Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation has decided to fine Atlético Madrid €45,000 and partially close the South Stand, where the "Colchoneros" ultras are located, for three of the team's home matches in La Liga. Atlético has also been warned that any further incidents could lead to a complete stadium closure.
The club has the right to appeal the committee's decision within 10 days or take the matter to court.
