Schalke eye Real Madrid legend Raul for managerial role
Schalke 04 is looking to appoint legendary Real Madrid forward Raul as the head coach of their German team.
According to Relevo, club representatives have already traveled to Madrid to discuss a new project with the manager. Schalke executives are confident that Raul, who previously played for the team, can revive the club, which is currently languishing at the bottom of the 2. Bundesliga table.
The 47-year-old Spaniard has been coaching Real Madrid's reserve team, Castilla, for six seasons. It is noted that Raul has already declined numerous offers and is likely to reject Schalke's approach as well.
The publication also mentions that Raul has a good relationship with Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager advised Raul to stay at Real Madrid, as it is the best route to eventually lead the first team, similar to Zinedine Zidane's career path.
