Sneijder: "I got robbed of not winning the 2010 Ballon d'Or"

Former midfielder for Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and the Netherlands national team, Wesley Sneijder, has described not receiving the Ballon d'Or in 2010 as a robbery.

That year's award went to Barcelona forward Lionel Messi. Sneijder finished fourth in the voting, behind Messi's teammates Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

"I got robbed of not winning the 2010 Ballon d'Or. But to be honest, I'm more happy by the fact that people are still talking about it 14 years later. And they're telling me like 'Wes, you got robbed in 2010'," Sneijder told Football Talk.

During the 2009/10 season, Wesley Sneijder scored eight goals and provided 15 assists in 41 matches across all competitions. He achieved a treble with Inter, winning the Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions League. With the Dutch national team, Sneijder reached the World Cup final, where they were defeated by Spain (0-1).
