Son Heung-min's father and brother fined for assaulting child
The father and brother of Tottenham forward Son Heung-min have been fined for physically assaulting a child.
Son Woong-jung, the father of the 32-year-old Korean player, runs a youth football academy where Son Heung-yun, the player’s brother, serves as a coach.
According to Yonhap, the parents of one of the academy's students reported that their child sustained a thigh injury after being struck multiple times with a corner flag by Son Heung-yun during a training session. The father of the Tottenham winger was also accused of verbally abusing children. However, Son Woong-jung has denied these allegations, asserting that they are unfounded.
Recently, the Chuncheon District Court found Son Woong-jung, Son Heung-yun, and another academy coach guilty of child mistreatment and imposed a fine of 3 million won ($2,220) on each. Additionally, all three individuals were ordered to complete a 40-hour program on the prevention of child abuse. Son Heung-min's father and brother have the option to appeal the court's decision.
