Ter Stegen Successfully Undergoes Knee Surgery
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has successfully undergone surgery on the ligaments of his kneecap, according to the club's press service.
The keeper sustained the injury during the sixth round of La Liga against Villarreal (5-1). Ter Stegen started the match for the Catalan side, but he suffered a knee injury in the first half and was substituted for Iñaki Peña. The German player had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
Medical examinations revealed that Ter Stegen had suffered a complete tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee. The estimated recovery time is 7-8 months.
