The amount of compensation that Manchester United would owe Erik ten Hag in the event of his dismissal has been disclosed

The compensation that Manchester United would owe Erik ten Hag in the event of his dismissal has been revealed.

According to Goal journalist Richard Martin, had the Manchester club sacked the 54-year-old Dutch manager over the summer, they would have needed to pay him around £10 million. However, following the extension of his contract by another year until June 2026, ten Hag's compensation for an early termination has now risen to £17.5 million.

Martin notes that this £17.5 million figure represents half of the savings the club made by previously laying off 250 staff members as part of their cost-cutting measures. Currently, Manchester United sits in 13th place in the Premier League table, having accumulated just 7 points from 6 matches.
