UEFA Chief: "Who's complaining about the calendar? Those with the highest salaries"

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has responded to footballers' complaints about the overcrowded match calendar.

"We must acknowledge that the calendar is crammed to bursting. We've reached the limit. At the same time, clubs and players have different attitudes to this. Some are overloaded, while others have free windows.

In fairness, I want to say that I stick to what I stated two months ago - there's no room for additional games. But I have to add: who's complaining? Those with the highest wages and those who have 25 top players. Those with lower salaries, and clubs that only have 11 players, they're not complaining. They love to play," Ceferin told the BBC.

On September 20, Manchester City midfielder Rodri spoke out about a possible player strike due to the overfilled calendar. Three days before that, Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti called on football officials to consider reducing the number of season matches due to an increase in player injuries.
