UFC President Dana White has declared Russian fighter Magomed Ankalaev as the leading contender for the UFC light heavyweight title bout.

«Magomed looked great, just brilliant. Can I call him the number one contender? I would say yes,» White was quoted by MMA Junkie.

Ankalaev secured a victory over Alexander Rakic at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, winning by unanimous decision. The light heavyweight title is currently held by Alex Pereira. Previously, Ankalaev assessed Pereira's skills and urged him to take the fight.
