Fire in the Hole 2 Demo Mode

In the second part of Fire in the Hole from Nolimit City, released in February 2024, we descend deeper than we would like and remain there for a long time. The atmosphere is intense: wilds explode, gnomes collect, multipliers grow, and the balance drains away. Demo mode is available without registration right here or in the catalogue at Legalbet.

Design and Theme

🖼️ Graphics

Fire in the Hole 2 is not just a slot, but a full descent into a dark mine — with lanterns, cave-ins, rattling minecarts, and a ton of visual noise. In the background — crevices with purple crystals, rough stone masonry, and wooden supports. It’s all dimly lit, but not dirty.

The reel grid looks like a real cross-section of a mine. The top three rows are open, and below them are locked sections. It’s immediately clear that all the interesting stuff lies deeper. On the tiles, you’ll see dwarves, beer, dynamite, and chests — everything is stylised, but still clearly readable.

🎶 Sound

Fire in the Hole 2 sounds like a tense scene from a fantasy cartoon — the kind where the hero sneaks through the dark, and something is clearly moving just around the corner. The melody is built on low, slightly detuned tones: it stretches slowly, sometimes builds up, sometimes almost fades away, but it’s always there in the background.

The sound of spinning reels isn’t made up of clicks or rotations, but a muffled rumble — like the walls of a mine crumbling around you. Nothing aggressive: on the contrary, everything is woven into a unified soundscape where even a spin feels like part of the anxious environment.

The grid in Fire in the Hole 2 starts in a 6x3 format, and initially, only the top three rows are active. The rest are hidden behind stone slabs. With each win, xBomb explosion, or Wild Mining activation, a collapse occurs and another lower row is unlocked.

Winning Combinations

High-paying symbols are all things you might need in a mine: from a lantern to a shovel. The rest are wooden signs with letters and numbers. Below is how much you can get from them.

Special Symbols

This slot has so many symbols that at first you might feel like diagramming instead of spinning. To avoid confusion, we’ve broken everything down into parts: one for what appears in the base game, and another for the full zoo of the bonus round.

Symbols found in the base game (and sometimes still active in the bonus):

  • Gold Dollar (Scatter): When 3 or more appear in the base game, they trigger the Lucky Wagon Spins bonus. The number of scatters affects how many rows will be open at the start of the bonus.
  • Global Multiplier: During each spin, a multiplier is active that can increase but only lives within one collapse chain. It doesn’t trigger immediately — it builds up and is applied only when a win finally occurs. After that, the multiplier resets, and the next spin starts at the usual x1.
  • xBomb (Wild): A special wild that first lands on the reels, then explodes. It substitutes all symbols except bonus ones, but its main effect is removing adjacent symbols (excluding bonuses) and increasing the win multiplier for the next collapse. The explosion occurs before the next set of symbols falls.
  • Wild Mining: This triggers when 3, 4, 5, or 6 matching symbols align horizontally or vertically without forming a win. These symbols disappear, and wilds appear in the centre positions — from one to four, depending on the combo length. All symbols above the line also vanish (unless they’re bonuses or wilds), causing a collapse. It’s a way to turn a dead spin into a cascading opportunity.
  • Buried Features: Some symbols in the base game may be hidden beneath layers of rock — these are so-called Dirt blocks. Underneath, there may be wilds, xSplits, or bonus symbols, but they remain inactive until the dirt is removed. There are two ways to activate them: either break the tile in the usual way or hit it with an xSplit effect.
  • xSplit: This symbol activates on a row and slices all symbols in it, doubling them. If the resulting copy is the eighth or higher, a multiplier appears instead of a duplicate. xSplit and bonus symbols themselves are not duplicated. After activating, xSplit turns into a regular symbol. If xSplit touches a Dirt block along the way, it marks it — but the block will only disappear if a collapse happens afterwards. Without a collapse, the rock remains in place.

Symbols that appear only in the bonus game (Lucky Wagon Spins):

Main multipliers and triggers:

  • Coin: A symbol in the form of a cart filled with gold coins — if the multiplier is good. But if x1 drops, instead of gold, the cart carries a literal pile of poop. The value is applied to the entire column: from x1 to x100. It just lands — it just pays. And sometimes — just embarrasses.
  • Upgrade: The symbol looks like purple crystals. It can appear on the additional seventh reel during the bonus. If a coin drops beneath this symbol, its effect is boosted. For Coin and Multiplier — the coin remains active for the next spin. For Dynamite, Beer, and Dwarf — the effect becomes permanent and activates every spin until the bonus ends.

Top-row boosters:

  • Multiplier: A bright yellow cart with gold bars and a huge x25 coin. This booster multiplies the value of all coins in its column. Multipliers range from x2 to x25. If Upgrade is active, the effect can repeat every spin.
  • Dynamite: A cart packed with red bundles of dynamite. When triggered, it first adds its multiplier to the coin below, then throws several dynamite sticks across the grid. These can land on different targets: If it hits Dirt, the block disappears. If it hits a coin, its value is doubled. If it hits a Collect Chest, it activates immediately. The number of charges depends on the notches shown on the cart. The more notches, the more explosive the outcome.
  • Beer: A cart with beer bottles and, possibly, a second chance inside. This booster wakes up up to five old coins already on the field, allowing them to activate the top boosters once more. The activating coin itself gives just x1, but it can trigger a chain reaction on the next spin.
  • Dwarf: A dwarf with wild eyes and a cart slung over his shoulder. If he activates, he collects all values in his column and adds them to the current coin. Visually and mechanically, one of the strongest symbols in the bonus round.

Special mention should go to the Collect Chest — it is located in the bottom row and is initially chained up. To activate it, you need Dynamite. After that, the chest opens and begins collecting the values of all coins in its column — every spin, until the very end of the bonus. It looks impressive: coins drip down from above, and the chest at the bottom scoops everything up. One of the most stable sources of accumulation in Lucky Wagon Spins.

Bonus Game

The bonus is triggered by landing 3 to 5 scatters. The more scatters — the more rows are open at the start (2–4). The format is classic: you get three respins, and each time a Coin lands, the counter resets.

All coins are multipliers to the bet. On every spin, carts with boosters roll across the top. There's also a seventh reel with a crystal (Upgrade) — if a coin lands beneath it, its effect becomes stronger or even permanent.

Sometimes, a Collect Chest appears at the bottom — to activate it, you need Dynamite from above. After that, the chest starts collecting the entire column on every spin. The bonus ends when you go three spins without landing any coins, or when the grid is completely filled. The goal is simple — make sure the boosters don’t trigger into empty space.

RTP, Volatility, Max Win

Theoretical return to player (RTP) of the slot — 96.07%. Volatility — extreme. Maximum win — x65000 to the stake. After this is reached, a hard cap is triggered (in the game, it’s called ELBEERADO) — the mine is cleared out, and the round ends immediately.

Our Verdict

Fire in the Hole 2 looks like a slot that should torment, but it unexpectedly gave twice a bonus in a hundred spins. Without boosters, it behaves briskly: xBombs explode regularly, xSplit flickers, and even Wild Mining occurs. One downside — when the second scatter lands, the “what if” animation, without turbo, drags on like a punishment.

Both bonuses turned out to have character, without huge payouts, but visually  alive and gripping. We turned on the booster (xBet) — and suddenly it got worse. Coins and wilds more often landed in locked rows. In 50 spins, not a single bonus, only a bunch of empty effects.

But bonus buys are a different story. For x600, the slot put on a show: 7 chests, multipliers above them, dynamite, retrigger — ending in a striking x830. One of those bonuses after which you want more. But the x3600 purchase (Persistent Dwarf) didn’t impress: everything worked as it should, and the win was x665. Beautiful, but somehow… At that price, the slot should blow your monitor off.

Despite the mechanical overload and heavy style, the slot turned out to be much friendlier than expected. If you liked it, in our demo‑slots section, you can try Misery Mining or Tombstone R.I.P from the same provider, but bear in mind — the latter is visually gruesome. Fans of the Hold and Win mechanic, but with a slightly lower degree of madness, will enjoy Money Train 3 by Relax Gaming.
