Everything in Phoenix DuelReels revolves around movement. The Dragon and the Phoenix are constantly stirring on both sides of the grid, as if urging the reels into a new duel. The symbols come to life only when they form a win: at that moment, a fiery or watery thread runs along the line, and the combination itself seems to breathe. The VS symbol behaves the same way in any mode — it stretches across the entire reel and triggers the clash. If the Dragon wins, a burnt egg remains on the screen, and the multiplier is stamped into the column in large digits.
The background changes along with the modes: the base game is calm and dark; Fire and Water shimmers with blue and is lit by lava eggs; and Rise of the Phoenix blazes red, with charred bones at the bottom. Before the free spins launch, a risk screen appears with fiery eggs in a cave, and inside the bonus, the eggs begin to hatch right on the reels. All this creates the feeling that the grid is not just an image but a living stage where each spin is a separate episode.
🎶 Sound
The soundtrack in Phoenix DuelReels goes against the visuals: the melody is light, airy, and almost weightless — as if written for something calm rather than for duels. This creates a curious contrast — fire and water rage all around, while in your ears plays music that seems to belong to an entirely different scene.
The sounds that accompany scatters and wilds are there, but they’re rare and subtle. The same delicate notes play on winning lines, so the emphasis remains mostly visual rather than auditory.

Special Symbols
- Wild (W): substitutes for any symbols from the paytable. Additionally, it pays x10 on its own for a line of five.
- VS: appears on any reel. If it becomes part of or creates a combination, it expands to cover the entire reel. A duel between the Phoenix and the Dragon unfolds on the reel: the winner determines a multiplier from x2 to x200. If several DuelReels appear within one combination, their multipliers are added together.
- Scatter (FS): triggers the free spins feature.
To fully understand how to play Phoenix DuelReels, it’s important to know the Resurrection Spin mechanic. If the Phoenix loses a duel on at least one DuelReel, a respin is triggered with the guaranteed appearance of at least one VS. Respins continue as long as there are DuelReels with defeated Phoenixes on the reels. This mechanic works both in the base game and in the bonus modes.
Bonus Game
Before the free spins start, you can take a risk: five fiery eggs appear on the screen, and you can open up to three of them. Inside, you may find additional spins (+2…+10) or an upgrade from Fire and Water to Rise of the Phoenix. However, there’s a catch — if luck isn’t on your side, the total number of spins may end up being fewer than the standard 10 granted without taking part in the gamble feature.
- Fire and Water: Triggered by three Scatters and awards 10 free spins. All the base game functions remain active. Additional Scatters extend the bonus: 2 symbols grant +2 spins, and 3 symbols grant +4.
- Rise of the Phoenix: Activated by four Scatters or via the upgrade in the gamble feature. This mode also gives 10 free spins, but with an enhanced Resurrection Spin mechanic: the number of VS symbols in the respin matches the number of reels where the Phoenix lost the duel. Extra Scatters again add +2 or +4 spins.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
RTP — 96.24%, volatility — 3/5. In bonus features and paid modes, the volatility is high. The maximum win is x10,000 the bet, after which the game stops.
Our Verdict
Phoenix DuelReels keeps you on edge: the slot brings the grid to life beautifully, but behind this visual show hides a rare yet potentially powerful payout. The regular play can get tiring rather quickly — only the VS duels keep it engaging, sometimes forming multiplier chains. The free spins feel like the true core of the game: Fire and Water is just a warm-up, while Rise of the Phoenix gives a real chance for a major boost.
This slot is more for the patient — it’s about waiting for that one decisive battle rather than chasing frequent wins. And if you’re looking for alternatives, check out Wanted Dead or a Wild, where duels and VS symbols also play a key role, or Zeus vs Hades if you prefer the theme of divine confrontation.
