Design and Theme
🖼️ Graphics
The game features a vibrant design lit up with lightning and glowing effects. The background changes depending on the mode: in Olympus, it’s a Greek temple in blue tones; in Hades, it’s the fiery underworld, resembling the mouth of a volcano. The main characters do not appear in the background — they show up on the reels as Wild symbols only.
The interface is familiar. In the bottom right corner, there’s the spin button and the autoplay option, which includes fast and turbo spins (in addition to the standard speed). In the bottom left corner, you’ll find game info and rules, the bankroll amount, and the current bet. On the left sidebar, you can switch game modes or buy free spins at any time.
🎶 Sound
The slot features two soundtracks. In Olympus mode, it’s a light, fantasy-style theme that feels like the background music for magical heroes setting off on an adventure. In Hades mode, the music is a bit darker and more intense (but not overly so), occasionally accompanied by a liturgical choir — classic hell-themed ambience.
Overall, the sound is well-designed: the loop is subtle enough not to get annoying. You can mute the music separately from the sound effects (but not vice versa).

Special Symbols
The game features three special symbols: Scatter, Wild, and Expanding Wild.
- Scatter. The scatter is a Greek temple with columns — blue in the Olympus mode, red in Hades. Three scatters trigger 10 free spins. They appear only on reels 1, 3, and 5.
- Wild. No fantasy here — just a Wild sign. This symbol substitutes for any other symbol to create the best winning combination — except the scatter, which it cannot replace. It can appear on any reel.
- Expanding Wild. Expands vertically to fill the reel if it forms a winning combination. Can appear on any reel, both in the base game and in the bonus game. When it expands, a “duel” between Zeus and Hades is triggered. The winner grants a random multiplier between x2 and x200. Most commonly, small multipliers around x3-x4 drop.
Bonus Game
The bonus game is also straightforward: landing 3 scatters awards 10 free spins. The bonus game cannot be retriggered or modified. Once the free spins finish, the game returns to the base mode.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
Zeus vs Hades has different RTP values depending on the game mode, though the difference is minimal — generally around 96%.
- Olympus base game: 96.05%
- Hades base game: 96.07%
- Olympus bonus game: 96.04% (standard) and 96.01% (premium)
- Hades bonus game: 96.14% (standard) and 96.08% (premium)
Volatility in Olympus mode is high, while in Hades mode it is super high.
The maximum win is x15000 your bet. If you hit the jackpot in the bonus game, it ends automatically and any remaining free spins are not used.
Our Verdict
Zeus vs Hades — Gods of War is a highly volatile slot. It’s common knowledge that high volatility slots offer fewer, but bigger wins. However, in the super-volatile Hades mode, we can't even confidently say that — in our experience, the wins there are both rare and small (e.g., x0.1 stake payouts). After two test runs of 100 spins each in the base game, we ended up with losses of 20–30 bets both times. In the premium bonus round costing 300x the stake, we only won 2x — a net loss of 298x. The Olympus bonus round was profitable, and the overall mode is more forgiving, with more frequent (and not always tiny) wins. That said, the second bonus buy in Hades also ended in a small profit.
Still, the extremely high volatility combined with a decent RTP means this slot is more likely than others to deliver a max or near-max win — especially in the bonus round if you land 2–3 expanding Wilds on the first reels. That’s what makes this slot so popular.
So, if you want to win a big prize in Hades mode, you’ll likely need a very substantial bankroll.
A downside for some players, especially experienced ones, may be the excessive simplicity of the slot: a small number of paylines (15), lack of symbol variety beyond scatters and wilds, and a repetitive bonus game with the same 10 free spins every time. Moreover, the game has no jackpots and doesn’t feature Pragmatic’s signature Drops & Wins mechanic.
If you're looking for more interesting options from Pragmatic, try Gates of Olympus Super Scatter or The Dog House Megaways. If you prefer lower volatility, go with Wolf Gold. And for those who enjoyed the hellish theme, there’s a dedicated slot called Gates of Hades.
