Rip City looks as if someone dropped Tom and Jerry into acid and left them to dry in a basement. The backdrop is a dark alleyway covered in graffiti and brickwork. In the base game, a wild-eyed cat and an energy-drink-chugging mouse twitch slightly on the screen.
When the reels are idle, the cat and mouse break into a lazy little dance. On winning spins, the cat performs a smooth, almost satisfied hip movement. But when you hit a really big win, both characters jump, their eyes bulge out, and the whole scene freezes for a second — in Rip City, joy looks anything but normal.
In the bonus rounds, the animals swap roles. In the Ro$$ Bonus, the mouse looks angry and on edge, while the cat sits dazed, eyes rolled back and stars spinning above his head — as if he’s just been clobbered. In the Maxx Bonus, it’s the opposite: the mouse is slumped to the side, fast asleep, while the cat is in full control — dancing, pointing, and acting like he finally runs the place.
🎶 Sound
The background music is a relentless, cartoonish loop that gives a constant sense of chase and absurdity. Winning spins are punctuated by bright, jingling sound effects, as if someone’s spilling loose change. The appearance of wilds is marked by a short meowing sound — subtle, yet instantly recognisable.

Special Symbols
-
Wild – the standard wild symbol, substituting for any regular symbol.
-
Wild Cat – a special wild that can appear on any reel, one per reel. It substitutes for all regular symbols. If it can form part of at least one winning combination, it expands downwards to the bottom row. The expanded Wild Cat replaces every symbol on its reel. When the expanding Wild Cat passes through a regular Wild, that symbol receives a multiplier. The multiplier value is chosen randomly from the following set: x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8, x9, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50, x100, x200. If several Wilds with multipliers appear within the same winning combination, all multipliers are added together and then applied to the total win.
-
Scatter (FS) – appears on any reel and triggers bonus rounds depending on how many land. During free spins, it can also upgrade the bonus mode.
Bonus Game
There are two bonus modes in Rip City — the Ro$$ Bonus and the Maxx Bonus.
Ro$$ Bonus is triggered by 3 Scatters and awards 10 free spins. In this mode, the appearance rate of Wild Cats and regular Wilds increases. During the bonus, additional Scatters can land:
-
3 Scatters add +4 spins
-
4 Scatters upgrade the bonus to the Maxx Bonus
If the upgrade happens when fewer than 10 spins remain in the Ro$$ Bonus, the Maxx Bonus starts with 10 spins.
If there are more than 10 spins left (for example, after retriggers), that number is carried over — the Maxx Bonus begins with the same remaining total.
The Maxx Bonus can also be triggered directly if 4 Scatters land during the base game, granting 10 free spins.
Its defining feature is the ability to activate individual reels.
Whenever a Wild Cat lands on a reel, it becomes sticky — it will appear in that reel on every remaining spin.
Over the course of the bonus, all reels can potentially become sticky, dramatically increasing the win potential, especially when multiple multipliers appear in succession.
Landing 3 additional Scatters adds +4 extra spins.
RTP, Volatility, Max Win
The base RTP of Rip City is 96.22%, but the game can also be configured for alternative versions: 94.27%, 92.32%, or 88.02%. Volatility is high across most modes, while the Two Wild Cats FeatureSpins mode is rated as very high. The maximum win is capped at x12,500.
Our Verdict
In the base game, Rip City performs as expected. Wins are small, appearing roughly every 7–10 spins — usually in the range of x2–x3, and often less. Even when the Wild Cat expands, it doesn’t guarantee much — across 200 spins, the best result from a single expanded spin was x10. Once, two cats combined for x20, but no multipliers appeared at all.
The Bonushunt FeatureSpins proved livelier. On the third spin, it triggered a Ro$$ Bonus with two retriggers and a total win of x100. The second bonus came around the twentieth spin, paying just x20. Overall, it’s a practical mode — it can trigger bonuses quickly, though as always, the question is how much value you’ll find inside them.
The Two Wild Cats FeatureSpins started off looking like a flop — several dead spins in a row. Then suddenly, the screen filled with four expanded cats, a x7 multiplier, and a x400 win. It’s like a mini-Maxx moment at random: it might hit big or leave you with nothing.
Three Wild Cats FeatureSpins is more of a lottery weighted towards losses. Sometimes the Wilds line up perfectly — and yes, you can get x200. But more often, they’re scattered badly and don’t overlap with regular Wilds, which severely limits potential.
The purchased Ro$$ Bonus showed its worst side — no retriggers, no upgrade, and it paid back barely a tenth of the cost. The Maxx Bonus felt livelier — three activated reels, +8 spins, some fun moments — but even then, the total win didn’t reach half the buy-in value.
Rip City can impress, but more often keeps you at arm’s length — bonuses are fickle, Wilds unpredictable, and patience is essential. It’s best suited for those who enjoy flash-burst gameplay rather than long, steady sessions.
If you’re after something similar but with a bit more variety, check out SixSixSix by the same developer — there, an upgrade can land even before the bonus begins. Or try Chaos Crew 2 — also featuring a cat, but set in anarchic chaos: sudden multipliers, varied bonus modes, and a lot more unpredictability and adrenaline.
