Canada began their preparation cycle without several key players, but in the last match against Uzbekistan (2:0), we finally saw the national team at their best. It was a 4-4-2 system with powerful flanks pushing forward and the star strike duo of David and Larin. We especially want to highlight Ismael Kone in midfield. The 23-year-old Canadian had an excellent season with Sassuolo and gets through a huge amount of work both defensively and in attack. He has every chance of shining at the World Cup.
Ireland played two friendlies against Grenada (5:0) and Qatar (1:0), but the second match clearly exposed the team's weak spots. Ireland scored their only goal in the fifth minute, then looked very poor. Their paired-up wide players often sit back in defence instead of constantly joining the attack. Although what else can be expected from 37-year-old Coleman, who has never been known for his ability to bomb forward.
This game will be an excellent test for Canada's attack, and we think the national team will handle it well in front of their own fans. Ireland are completely harmless going forward, so the hosts will be able to throw all their resources into attack. In this scenario, they should certainly score their goals.
