Betting tip

Genoa have endured an extremely difficult start to the season. Daniele De Rossi's side have collected just one point from five matches, scoring three goals and conceding ten. After defeats to Napoli (0:2), Lazio (0:1) and Como (1:4), Genoa drew 1:1 with Frosinone Calcio before suffering another away defeat, this time to Parma (1:2). They therefore remain without a league win.

Player availability remains another concern for De Rossi. His side head into the Fiorentina match without Lorenzo Colombo. Mehtri and Venturino are also unavailable, while Havel is struggling with muscle problems. Genoa are provisionally expected to line up in a 3-5-2 formation, with Milutin Osmajic and Vitinha partnering each other up front.

Fiorentina have also made an unsuccessful start to their league campaign, but Paolo Vanoli's side are gradually improving. After heavy defeats to AS Roma (0:4) and Frosinone Calcio (0:3), as well as a home loss to Torino (1:2), they have taken four points from their last two matches. The Viola first beat Venezia 4:2, then drew 1:1 with Napoli. Their record now stands at one win, one draw and three defeats from five matches, with six goals scored and 12 conceded.

Franco Mastantuono deserves particular attention. The Argentinian has already become one of Fiorentina's main creative forces: he scored a hat-trick in the win over Venezia before starting against Napoli. Vanoli is counting on Nicolò Fagioli and Cher Ndour in central midfield, with Mastantuono, Mateo Pellegrino and Ayoub Njié expected to form the front three. Fiorentina's injury list is also considerably shorter, with only Cristiano Parisi and Riccardo Sottil sidelined.

Recent head-to-head results also favour the visitors. Genoa have not beaten Fiorentina in their last 11 Serie A meetings: Fiorentina have won five, with the other six ending in draws. Both meetings last season were drawn: 2:2 in Genoa and 0:0 in Florence.

Backing an outright away win is risky, however: Fiorentina are still far from their best, while Genoa will surely try to make home advantage count. Fiorentina draw no bet therefore looks the best option: a win would make the bet a winner, while a draw would see the stake refunded. Taking current form, player availability and recent head-to-head results together, Vanoli's side look the more reliable choice.
