On Friday, 5 June, a friendly match between Tajikistan and India will take place at the Central Stadium in Hisor at 16:00 BST.
The visitors began their friendly tour back at the end of May, but so far it has gone very badly: two defeats. Judging by the odds, India have little to hope for this time either, with their win priced at around 4.70.
Tajikistan's strength lies in having a base club for the national team. In the March match against the Philippines, four Istiqlol Dushanbe players started, with the same number on the bench. Thanks to the excellent understanding between their leaders, Tajikistan look very good in transition phases and when in possession in the opposition half. The presence of Rustam Yatimov, Rostov's first-choice goalkeeper, should also be noted. With him behind them, the defenders can feel calm.
India have already lost to Jamaica (0:2) and Zimbabwe (0:1), and those matches clearly showed the team's level. Even against such opponents, they did not register a single shot on target, although they averaged 48.5% possession. Often, this turned into aimless passing around in their own half with no creativity at all.
This is the ideal opponent for Tajikistan. The visitors definitely will not punish defensive mistakes, while they will not create serious difficulties for the forwards either. We are backing a confident win for the hosts.
