"I Really Didn't Like His Words": Hamilton Accuses FIA President of Racism

Mercedes British driver Lewis Hamilton has criticised the President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

On 19 September, the official stated, "We need to differentiate our sport—motorsport—from rap. We are not rappers, you know. How many swear words do they use per minute? We are not like that. There are them and there are us."

"I really didn't like his words. Speaking about rappers in such a way is stereotypical. When you consider that most rappers are Black, what does it mean to say 'we're not like that'? It was a poor choice of words; there's an element of racism here," Hamilton said, as quoted by GPBlog.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, aged 62, took charge of the FIA in December 2021.
