Red Bull Chief Labels McLaren as the Benchmark in Formula 1

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, has praised McLaren’s achievements during the 2024 season.

"I was confounded by how easily Lando [Norris] was able to pull away. But we encountered issues with the Medium tyres. Once we switched to Hard, we were on the same pace as Lando. On that compound, I didn’t see any cars faster than us. However, if on Friday we were offered second place at the start and finish, we would have taken it. The race in Singapore was the second, after Baku, where we made progress. The team has identified the root of our problems and is on the path to resolving them. Nevertheless, the gap is substantial, and we have many sleepless nights ahead in Milton Keynes to overcome it. We have to acknowledge that McLaren is the new benchmark for everyone in Formula 1," Horner stated to Auto Motor und Sport.

On September 22, McLaren driver Lando Norris won the Singapore Grand Prix, with Red Bull’s Dutch driver Max Verstappen finishing second.
