Ten Hag on FA Super Cup defeat: «The pain will drive us to work harder»

Manchester United's head coach Erik ten Hag has commented on the team's loss to Manchester City in the FA Super Cup (Community Shield).

On August 10, the Red Devils were defeated by the Cityzens in a penalty shoot-out, following a 1-1 draw in regulation (1-1, 6-7 on penalties).

«Yes, it's definitely hard to accept this defeat. When the performance is right, we are winning in the game and the penalties as well, if you go on to lose everyone feels it. It hurts in your stomach but we have to take this.

You have to hurt because the pain will drive us and give us motivation to do better. What positives we can take out of this is that we can compete with City and we have to take this into the league», — told ten Hag to ITV.

Manchester City has now claimed the FA Community Shield for the seventh time in their history, with their last victory in this competition occurring in 2019.
