Video: suspended Premier League referee Coote inhales white powder

David Coote, a referee in the English Premier League (EPL), is reportedly seen using drugs during Euro 2024.

The Sun published a video of the incident, showing the 42-year-old referee inhaling a white powder through a dollar bill. A bank card is visible on the table next to him. It is noted that Coote likely filmed the video himself after the Euro 2024 quarter-final match between Germany and Spain, where he served as a VAR assistant, in a hotel room provided by UEFA for the tournament's duration.

Previously, a video surfaced online in which David Coote stated that Liverpool "played terribly" in one of the matches and referred to the Merseyside club's manager, Jurgen Klopp, as a "complete idiot." The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), responsible for overseeing referees in EPL matches, has suspended the 42-year-old referee pending an investigation. Subsequently, the British referee was removed from the FIFA and UEFA officials' lists.

David Coote has been officiating EPL matches since 2018 and became a FIFA referee in 2020.
