Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
After their first win in the Europa League, Ferencváros have struggled to gather points even in their domestic league, while Dynamo Kyiv are languishing near the bottom of the European stage. It's time to change their fortunes.
Dynamo Kyiv
Dynamo Kyiv have lost all their autumn matches in the Europa League, failing to score a single goal and averaging just 8.3 shots per game, resulting in a meagre total xG of 1.34, the worst in the tournament. To be fair, they faced tough opponents in their first three rounds, all from the top five leagues: two clubs from Rome and Hoffenheim. However, the gap between Dynamo Kyiv and their opponents has closed over time, with results improving from 0:3 to 0:2, and finally to 0:1. Theoretically, this time they should at least draw.
Ferencváros
The Hungarian champions are indeed suitable partners for a draw. In their last two Hungarian Championship rounds, Ferencváros shared the points with Győr (1:1) and then Debrecen (2:2). Their head coach Pascal Jansen must be frustrated with both results; after all, the first just returned to the top flight, and the second sits in the relegation zone. These setbacks have allowed Puskás Akadémia to catch up with the Budapest side.
Dynamo Kyiv vs Ferencváros Prediction
Dynamo Kyiv haven't shone in the Europa League, but things are in order in the Ukrainian Premier League, where they sit in first place, having dropped only four points. Furthermore, Ferencváros are not Roma or Lazio. They can be beaten, as proven by the Ukrainians in the 2020/21 Champions League campaign (1:0 at home, 2:2 away). Hence, we lean towards a double chance for Dynamo Kyiv.
