Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women's Champions League match.
At the weekend, Manchester United saw their nine-match unbeaten streak, which had lasted since early September, come to an end. Hosting Paris Saint-Germain, they will look to impose their game, as the French side have been prone to defensive errors even in European competition.
Manchester United (women)
The defeat to Aston Villa (0:1) was only Manchester United’s second in 14 matches this season. After the early setback against Brann (0:1) in the final qualifying round of the Champions League, the English side have surpassed 1.5 goals in five of their last nine games. In the group stage, Manchester United edged Vålerenga (1:0), who spent the entire match defending deep, and followed that up with a disciplined away win over Atlético Madrid (1:0), holding their advantage despite playing half an hour with ten players.
Paris Saint-Germain (women)
Paris Saint-Germain’s start to the Champions League has been rough — defeats to Wolfsburg (0:4) and Real Madrid (1:2) left them at the bottom of the group. The current squad appears ill-equipped to challenge Europe’s elite, as shown by the heavy loss to Olympique Lyonnais (1:6) domestically. While they remain strong enough to beat mid-table and lower-tier teams in France, they struggle against top opposition.
Manchester United (women) vs Paris Saint-Germain (women) Prediction
Across their last three away matches — against Lyon and Wolfsburg among them — PSG have conceded a total of ten goals. Manchester United’s attacking form and home advantage should see them score at least twice against a shaky Paris defence.
