Two Asian national teams who disappointed at the last World Cup will meet at a stadium in Daejeon 6 October 2026.
South Korea
South Korea have a new head coach — Spaniard Robert Moreno has been in charge since 1 September. They have already played three friendlies under him during this international window. The first two were high-scoring but one-sided: both went over 2.5 goals, with the losing team beaten by a three-goal margin. First, Ecuador lost to South Korea (0:3), before South Korea themselves suffered a heavy defeat against Uruguay (1:4). Only the match against Venezuela ended in a quiet draw (0:0).
Uzbekistan
Despite finishing the World Cup with 0 points and a goal difference of -7, Fabio Cannavaro remained in charge of Uzbekistan. Over the past two weeks, the Central Asian team have beaten Iran (3:1) and Syria (4:1). The trend towards high-scoring matches is evident here too. At the World Cup, however, almost all those goals went into Uzbekistan's net.
South Korea vs Uzbekistan Prediction
These teams last met a long time ago, in 2018. Uzbekistan have improved, so we cannot assume they will lose, even though the odds on them winning have risen above 5.0. Given both teams' recent results, backing over 2.5 goals makes sense.
