Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Vienna match.
Stefanos Tsitsipas heads into Vienna struggling for form, and his opening-round challenge won’t be easy — a meeting with Lorenzo Musetti, who has firmly established himself inside the world’s top 10.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
World No.25 Stefanos Tsitsipas has endured an inconsistent season, particularly on indoor hard courts, where he’s lost four of his six matches. Since his title win in Dubai, the Greek managed to clear the opening round in eight consecutive tournaments but has since hit a slump, losing 10 of his last 13 matches. Although Tsitsipas leads the head-to-head with Musetti (5-2), both of his most recent victories came before 2023, and six of their eight meetings were played on clay.
Lorenzo Musetti
World No.8 Lorenzo Musetti has been in excellent late-season form, winning 12 of his last 17 matches, including a US Open quarter-final run and a final appearance in Chengdu. At last year’s Vienna event, he defeated both Lorenzo Sonego and Alexander Zverev before falling to Jack Draper in the semi-finals. This season, his indoor record is balanced (one win, one loss), but he’s beaten Tsitsipas twice on clay — in Monte Carlo and Madrid.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Lorenzo Musetti Prediction
Musetti looks far more confident than Tsitsipas, who continues to struggle with early eliminations. While the Greek has the ability to push him, current form suggests Musetti should edge this contest with something to spare.
