Everton vs Burnley: prediction & betting odds 3 March 2026

The Premier League matchday 29 fixture between Everton and Burnley will take place on 3 March at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool. Everton vs Burnley: prediction, betting odds and statistics.

Everton

Everton managed to end a two-match losing run in the league last time out, having previously lost at home to Bournemouth (1:2) and Manchester United (0:1). They did so in somewhat unexpected fashion away to Newcastle United, winning 3:2. It is worth noting that the club had been unable to score more than twice in 12 consecutive Premier League matches. We should also point out that only for the second time in their last eight Premier League games have Everton conceded more than once. The team currently sit in the top half of the standings and trail the top five by eight points.

  • The club have avoided defeat in six of their last eight Premier League matches (three wins and three draws).
  • Both teams to score has landed in five of Everton's last six league games.
  • At home, the Liverpool club are on a six-match winless run in the Premier League (two draws and four defeats).

Potential Everton Lineup (4-5-1)*

Jordan Pickford – Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski, Jake O'Brien, Vitaliy Mykolenko – James Garner, Iliman Ndiaye, Idrissa Gueye, Dwight McNeil, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – Beto Betuncal.

Forward Jack Grealish is out until the end of the season with an injury. Midfielder Carlos Alcaraz is also unavailable due to injury.

Burnley

Burnley suffered a dramatic home defeat on Saturday, losing 3:4 to Brentford. Interestingly, the club were 0:3 down during the match but managed to draw level, only to concede the decisive goal in the third minute of stoppage time. Burnley then equalised again, but the goal was ruled out. Unfortunately, their unbeaten run ended almost as soon as it began, having included a win over Crystal Palace (3:2) and a draw with Chelsea (1:1). The team remain 19th and are eight points adrift of the safety of 17th place. The club have also conceded the most goals in the league — 56.

  • The team have failed to win 18 of their last 19 Premier League matches (six draws and 12 defeats).
  • Both teams have scored in six of Burnley's last eight Premier League games.
  • The club have scored in 11 of their last 13 away league matches.

Potential Burnley Lineup (4-5-1)*

Martin Dubravka – Maxime Esteve, Joe Worrall, Josh Laurent, Bashir Humphreys – Hannibal Mejbri, James Ward-Prowse, Lucas Pires, Jakob Bruun Larsen, Jaidon Anthony – Zian Flemming.

The club's injury list includes forwards Armando Broja and Zeki Amdouni, defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Connor Roberts, and midfielders Mike Trezor, Josh Cullen and Louis Bayer.

Everton vs Burnley: Match Prediction

No matter how good the Liverpool club have looked away from home, they are clearly having major problems at their new stadium. In six straight home matches, the team have not only been unable to win, but have also failed to keep a clean sheet. However, Everton have scored in four of their last five home Premier League games. That is why backing a home win against one of the relegation candidates is risky, especially as Burnley have started to play far more aggressively with the prospect of a return to the Championship looming.

Scott Parker's side are unbeaten in two consecutive away matches, so they will be looking to take points from this fixture as well. Interestingly, Burnley have looked slightly better in attack on the road than at home. In their last 13 away league matches, the club have failed to score only twice. The defence, however, has let them down, having not managed to leave an away ground without conceding a goal at any point this season. In addition, in 15 previous away Premier League games, the club have conceded two or more goals 12 times.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals

* For each team, the starting XI listed is from their previous match in this competition.

Betting tips 3 March 2026

Last weekend Everton and Burnley were involved in thriller matches, but only Everton came away with a positive result. That ability to convert performances into results gave Everton the edge.

Everton edged out Newcastle United, who are in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, winning 3:2. The midweek match clearly took its toll on them: they conceded two avoidable goals, first after a goalkeeper’s error and then when they allowed Tino Livramento to knock the ball in from practically on the goal-line. Jordan Pickford preserved the win with a save that diverted the ball onto the crossbar. However much people criticise the England goalkeeper, David Moyes was fortunate to have him.

Burnley, for their part, could have won or at least drawn their home match against Brentford, but in the end they lost 3:4. The side had not scored that many in a Premier League game this season. However, to show such attacking intent they first had to concede three times in a row. The hosts were somewhat fortunate with two clear deflections, one of which was recorded as an own goal. In the final ten minutes and added time, the referee disallowed two home goals — one for offside and one for handball.

We can applaud Burnley’s players for the comeback, but over the last ten rounds they have only one win and four draws. In only two of those matches did they concede fewer than two goals. The hosts, on the other hand, are capable of closing the game down. Given how the hosts opened up in the previous round, we still expect a couple of goals, but we do not foresee a draw for Scott Parker’s side.
