Betting Tip
Kauno Zalgiris’s pragmatic game dictated the outcome of the first leg in the Faroes. Kauno Zalgiris did not register a single shot on target in 90 minutes, yet remained dangerous on the counter-attack (only four efforts towards goal in total). Of course, more proactive football was expected from Sopic’s team, but he refused to take any risks. Kauno Zalgiris scraped past Drita in the first qualifying round (4:3 on aggregate), so against a more dangerous opponent they are playing even simpler football — long balls forward, a low block and an emphasis on winning possession anywhere on the pitch. This was Kauno Zalgiris’s second clean sheet — before that there was a 4:0 win over Siauliai.
Klaksvik created enough chances (12 shots, 7 on target), but their quality left much to be desired. The Faroese champions lost their leader Arni Frederiksberg midway through the first half — he was replaced because of injury by Filip Brattbakk. After the break the pressure from Magnus Powell’s side only increased (7–1 in shots), but still did not result in a goal. In the first qualifying round Klaksvik had a tough away trip to Atert Bissen (2:1), where they made mistakes. Their next opponents are clearly stronger and better organised.
Kauno Zalgiris are almost three times ahead of Klaksvik in terms of total squad market value (EUR 9m against EUR 3.4m). We expect Sopic’s side to get what they are aiming for in Lithuania — it will be a tough match, but the hosts should snatch a place in the next round.
