Wolfsburg's slump still has not been halted. Before the match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg are four points clear of the relegation play-off zone, but the club are genuinely at risk of direct relegation, so the board have decided on another coaching change. 

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 

This season is a breakthrough campaign for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Just a year ago they were in a dire state, similar to Wolfsburg's current situation, but now they have been in the top three for several weeks and do not intend to leave it. In the last round, Ilzer's team created chances with ease away to Heidenheim, winning 4:2 and generating 2.79 xG over 90 minutes. At home the hosts attack even better: 26 goals in 13 matches, with only Stuttgart (29) and Bayern Munich (40) scoring more. 

Wolfsburg 

The home defeat 1:2 to Hamburger, who are poor away from home, was another warning sign for Wolfsburg. Veteran coach Hecking has returned to the club, having already been in charge of Wolfsburg 10 years ago. The situation needs to be corrected immediately: they have conceded at least 2 goals in five matches in a row, and since 24 January they have picked up only one point from a possible 21. Away from home, they have conceded 27 goals in 12 matches; only Eintracht Frankfurt have a worse defence (31).
