Lincoln Red Imps
On Tuesday, 7 July 2026, Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar and Andorra's Inter Club d'Escaldes will meet in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League at the Europa Sports Park. The match kicks off at 17:00 BST.
Both clubs finished their domestic league campaigns back in the spring, so the ability of the coaching staffs to maintain match sharpness will come to the fore. However, the hosts have their extensive European experience in their favour.
Lincoln Red Imps once again dominated domestically, collecting 72 points over the season with an intimidating goal difference of 89:17. In the closing rounds, Lincoln Red Imps rolled over their direct rivals, winning four of their five matches. On the European stage, the club from Gibraltar has solid standing - last season, it came close to reaching the UEFA Conference League knockout rounds after taking seven points in the league phase. Despite the departure of important forward Tjay De Barr (18 goals), the main focal point of the attack, Kike Gomez, who scored 25 goals, remains available.
Inter Club d'Escaldes became champions of Andorra, but their title-winning campaign was far more nervy (only a three-point advantage over second place). Inter Club d'Escaldes' defence regularly malfunctions, as shown by shock defeats to outsiders such as Carroi (1:2) at the end of the spring. In European competition, the Andorran side usually do not last long, going out in the earliest qualifying rounds. During the off-season, the visitors lost depth in the squad, and now all the attacking hope rests on Faisal Shuaib (eight goals). Away to experienced hosts, Inter Club d'Escaldes will have to spend most of the time in a deep defensive block.
Lincoln Red Imps have scored in 12 consecutive matches, and in 10 of those they scored more than once. Inter Club d'Escaldes' defence, which has conceded in nine of its last 10 games, will not withstand the pressure from Kike Gomez and company on the artificial surface in Gibraltar. The hosts will build a significant advantage before the trip to Andorra.
