Bet for the match
After winning 0:1 in Lublin, Dynamo do not need to open up. Ihor Kostiuk has already shown that he is prepared to manage workloads: three days after the first leg, Kyiv rotated and eventually overcame Veres Rivne 2:1, while in Baku they merely need to prevent the hosts from quickly levelling the tie on aggregate. This situation pushes the visitors towards controlling space rather than a high tempo.
Dynamo's attack has been inconsistent so far. The team have failed to score twice in their last five competitive matches, while Kostiuk specifically spoke after the game in Rivne about problems with finishing in the final phase. Matviy Ponomarenko scored against Qarabag and then secured victory over Veres Rivne, but in the second leg it is more important for the visitors to protect their advantage than to create a high volume of chances.
Qarabag have their own problems. Camilo Durán and Leandro Andrade — two key sources of goals last season — left in the summer; Durán finished the campaign with 15 goals, five of them in the Champions League. After two 3:0 wins over Vestri, Qurban Qurbanov's team have failed to score in three consecutive competitive matches: two 0:0 draws with CSKA Sofia and a 0:1 loss to Dynamo.
Home advantage will give Qarabag more possession and pressure, but a fast start would be too risky. They trail by just one goal, and Qurbanov is used to navigating qualifying rounds through drawn-out two-legged ties. Moreover, Cebrail Makreckis, who started the first leg at right-back, is suspended following his red card — the flank will have to be reshaped.
The first goal could only further entrench a low-scoring pattern: a Qarabag goal would level the tie on aggregate, while a Dynamo goal would allow the visitors to close down spaces even more deeply. With the hosts having gone three straight matches without scoring and 0:1 in Kyiv's favour, the line of three goals looks high. Patience and error control matter more here than open football.
