Slavia Prague vs Barcelona: prediction & betting odds 21 January 2026

The match of Matchday 7 of the group stage of the 2025/26 Champions League between Slavia Prague (Czech Republic) and Barcelona (Spain) will take place 21 january at Eden Arena. Slavia Prague vs Barcelona: prediction, betting odds and statistics.

Slavia Prague

Slavia Prague has not yet won a single match in the group stage of the Champions League. Alternating draws and defeats, the home side has collected just 3 points from the previous 6 rounds and sits 33rd in the table. In theory the home side can still fight for a place in the playoff ties, but the chances look slim. The gap to 24th place is 4 points, and a defeat on Wednesday would lead to early elimination. It is worth noting serious problems with scoring. The home side scored only in the first-round game against Bodo/Glimt (2:2); since then the team has failed to score in five Champions League matches in a row. Only two goals in six matches is the lowest tally in the tournament.

  • The home side conceded in 6 of their last 8 Champions League matches.
  • Slavia Prague has not lost in 6 of its last 7 home matches in this competition (3 wins, 3 draws).
  • At least 2 goals were scored in 6 of the club's last 8 Champions League matches.

Potential Slavia Prague Lineup (4-2-3-1)

Jindrich Stanek – Tomas Holes, David Zima, Stepan Haloupek, Jan Boril – Michal Sadilek, David Moses – David Douděra, Vasil Kusej, Lukas Provod – Tomas Chory.

Midfielder Christos Zafeiris has left the club. Defender Dominik Javorcek and midfielder Petr Sevcik are unavailable due to injuries. Defender Tomas Holes has recovered from injury; another defensive player, Igo Ogbu, returned from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Barcelona

Barcelona beat Eintracht (2:1) in the last Champions League round. The visitors ended a short run of 2 matches without a win in this competition (1 draw, 1 loss). Barcelona rose to 15th place in the table, but the objective for the final phase of the group stage is to qualify directly for the round of 16. The team is currently 2 points behind 8th place. Note that since the start of the current Champions League season Barcelona have not kept a clean sheet. It is also worth noting that Barcelona have not lost in eight matches against Czech clubs, and seven of those eight meetings were wins.

  • At least 3 goals have been scored in 11 consecutive Champions League matches involving Barcelona.
  • Both teams scored in 8 of Barcelona's last 9 matches in this competition.
  • The club scored in 12 of its 13 previous away matches in the Champions League.

Potential Barcelona Lineup (4-2-3-1)

Joan Garcia – Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, Alex Balde – Frenkie de Jong, Pedri – Raphinha, Roony Bardghji, Fermin Lopez – Robert Lewandowski.

Forward Lamine Yamal is suspended; another attacking player, Raphinha, has recovered and is ready to return to the lineup. Defender Andreas Christensen, midfielder Gavi and forward Ferran Torres are recovering from injuries. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has left the team.

Slavia Prague vs Barcelona: Match Prediction

In the Champions League Slavia Prague is still without a win and is almost doomed to early elimination. But while there are still any chances of reaching the playoffs, the home side must give everything. Especially now, in a match against a high-profile opponent with the support of the stands. Before this the home side did not lose in 6 of 7 past home matches in the Champions League (3 wins, 3 draws). Only one of the last 16 home games for Slavia in this competition ended as a heavy defeat.

Barcelona still lacks stability in this Champions League season. After six rounds the visitors have recorded only 3 wins, two of them by a narrow margin. Over the last nine European matches Barcelona crushed only Olympiacos, and that happened at home. Away the club has not won by more than one goal in eight Champions League matches.

Prediction: Slavia Prague (+2)

Betting tips 21 January 2026

Barcelona will travel to Prague to secure at least a place in the play-off round. A simple win is enough for them, but Slavia Prague still retain a theoretical chance of finishing in the top 24, so they will try to put up resistance.

Most of their points (two out of three) Slavia Prague have collected at Fortuna Arena. However, there is little to be proud of: they let victory slip against a comparable Bodø/Glimt side (2:2) after leading 2:0 going into the final quarter of the match, they held Athletic Club Bilbao to 0:0 despite the visitors wasting four big chances (1.32 xG), and they suffered a heavy 0:3 defeat against Arsenal, a team of similar strength to Barcelona.

Before returning to the UEFA Champions League, some strange things happened to Barcelona in the Spanish LALIGA. The squad still lead the standings, albeit with a minimal advantage over Real Madrid, but after a run of 11 wins they unexpectedly lost 1:2 to Real Sociedad in San Sebastián. Everything came together in that one match: throughout the first half they tried to score, but several goals were ruled out (one after a VAR review), and a penalty awarded for a foul on Lamine Yamal was also overturned.

Such a sequence of events rarely happens to Barcelona, so we think their luck will turn in Prague, where everyone primarily wants to see the world-class stars. The visitors are likely to win comfortably.
