Van Dijk: "I was nowhere near where Saliba was at his age"
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has praised the talent of Arsenal's defensive star William Saliba.
Arsenal acquired William Saliba from Saint-Étienne in the summer of 2019 for €30 million. This season, the 23-year-old defender has featured in 12 matches for the Gunners, contributing to seven clean sheets despite having no direct goal contributions.
The Frenchman's contract with the London club runs until the summer of 2027, and Transfermarkt values him at €80 million.
Virgil van Dijk has been with Liverpool since 2018. At the age of 23, in the summer of 2013, the Dutchman moved from Groningen to Celtic for €2.75 million. This season, the defender has scored two goals and helped his team achieve seven clean sheets across 12 matches in all competitions.
