Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
Bologna, having strengthened after a lacklustre start, are now one of the hottest clubs in the Italian league as the first round draws to a close. Hellas Verona, whose weak defence has been an easy target for many opponents, are unlikely to put up much resistance against Bologna.
Bologna
A victory over Torino (2:0) extended Bologna's unbeaten run to six matches, which began in late November. They are now level on points dropped with Juventus in the European competition zone, and they haven't dropped points at home since October. In the last two months, Bologna have accumulated 13.40 xG in seven matches—exceeded only by Inter Milan (14.93) and Atalanta (15.51) in the league.
Hellas Verona
In the same period since early November, Verona have allowed 15.57 xGA (ranking 19th) and conceded 18 goals in seven matches, boasting the worst defence in Serie A. After their win against Parma (3:2), the team climbed out of the relegation zone, but a defeat to AC Milan (0:1) pushed them back into a vulnerable position—Verona were the first in the league to concede over 40 goals. With five players injured, Paolo Zanetti finds it extremely difficult to field a complete squad.
Bologna vs Hellas Verona Prediction
Since October 2023, Bologna have defeated Hellas Verona twice (both 2:0), and the current form of the hosts leaves no room for doubt. We suggest considering a win for Bologna, who have made a significant breakthrough in recent weeks.
