Alcaraz emotionally commented on Nadal's decision to end his career

10 October 2024 15:32

World's number two Spanish tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, addressed his fellow countryman and winner of 22 Grand Slam tournaments, Rafael Nadal, following his decision to retire from professional tennis.

"From a child who watched you on TV and dreamt of being a tennis player, to being honored and being able to play with you at Roland Garros, and representing Spain at the Olympics! Thank you for serving as an example to all - your legacy is truly unmatched! I will miss you when you leave after the Davis Cup, Rafa!" Alcaraz expressed on social media.

Today, the 38-year-old Spaniard announced that he would end his professional career after the final stages of the Davis Cup 2024, to be held from 19th to 24th November in Malaga, Spain.

In his career, Rafael Nadal won a total of 92 ATP tournaments, including 22 Grand Slams. The Spanish player also bagged two Olympic gold medals.
