Amorim to become Manchester United's new head coach
Sporting's head coach, Rúben Amorim, is set to continue his career at Manchester United. The Lisbon club's press service has announced the departure of the 39-year-old coach. The Red Devils will pay the Portuguese club €10 million as compensation for the early termination of Amorim's contract.
It is expected that the Portuguese manager will sign an agreement with the Mancunian club lasting until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend for an additional season. Rúben Amorim took charge of Sporting in 2020. Under his leadership, the Lisbon team clinched the Portuguese championship twice and won the Portuguese League Cup twice.
This announcement comes following Manchester United's recent decision to dismiss Erik ten Hag from his position as head coach. The Dutch manager had led the team since the summer of 2022 and secured victories in the FA Cup and the English League Cup with the Red Devils.
