Manchester United finalise contract terms with Amorim
Sporting’s head coach, Rúben Amorim, is on the brink of being appointed as Manchester United's new manager.
According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have successfully negotiated a complete contract agreement, including all terms, with the 39-year-old manager. The English club is now in discussions with the Lisbon side to find the best way forward for the manager’s departure. It is noted that the Portuguese coach meets all the requirements set by the Manchester United management.
Earlier reports indicated that the Manchester club might pay Sporting €10 million as compensation for terminating Amorim's contract prematurely.
Manchester United recently dismissed Erik ten Hag from his managerial role. Ten Hag, who had been at the helm since the summer of 2022, led the team to victories in the FA Cup and the English League Cup. For the interim, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as caretaker manager.
Rúben Amorim took over as Sporting's head coach in 2020. Under his leadership, the Lisbon-based team clinched the Portuguese championship twice and secured two Portuguese League Cups.
