Sinner has secured his lead in the world rankings for the rest of the year
Italian tennis player Yannick Cinner will finish the calendar year as the world ranking leader for the first time in his career.
The 23-year-old tennis player became out of reach of his nearest rivals after defeating Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters against Czech Tomas Machac. Cinner now has 11,320 points, while Alcaraz has 7,120. This gap can only widen at the end of the «1000th».
On Thursday, October 10, Sinner defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev in the 1/8 finals of the tournament in Shanghai. The meeting ended with the score 6:1, 6:4.
