The race for European qualification in Ligue 1 is intensifying. AS Monaco currently occupy second place in the standings, but their advantage over Strasbourg stands at just three points. This direct encounter could either tighten the race even further or push one of the sides out of the running.
AS Monaco
AS Monaco's elimination from the Champions League may have come as a blessing in disguise. With no midweek fixtures, the squad has benefited from more recovery time and improved preparation for domestic action. The results reflect that edge: four wins, two draws and just one defeat. Over those seven matches, they netted 12 goals, though their defensive record has been less convincing, conceding four — including twice against Stade Brestois 29.
Strasbourg
Strasbourg are unbeaten since 9 February, putting together an impressive stretch of seven wins and two draws. However, it's worth noting that many of these positive results came against teams from the lower half of the standings. In their latest outing, Strasbourg were held to a 2:2 draw by OGC Nice, while the previous fixture saw them concede four goals in a 2:4 defeat to Olympique Lyonnais. A standout story has been the rise of 18-year-old Samuel Amo-Ameyaw, who has scored twice in his first five senior appearances.

In the reverse fixture, AS Monaco claimed a 3:1 win on the road. Since then, both squads have shown consistency in their respective strengths and vulnerabilities. The hosts are clear favourites, although a clean sheet appears unlikely. As such, a combined bet is recommended: AS Monaco to avoid defeat and both teams to score.
