Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Hearts have experienced a couple of significant developments recently. First, they have finally appointed a new head coach. Second, the team secured their first victory and moved off the bottom of the table. Kilmarnock should prepare for a tough encounter.
Hearts
Neil Critchley, who has extensive experience working within Liverpool's system during Jürgen Klopp's tenure, has taken charge. In the two weeks since the English specialist's appointment, results have been positive. In their first match under his leadership, Hearts ended a 10-game winless streak in the Premiership by defeating St Mirren (4:0), converting all four shots on target into goals. They then strengthened their position in the Europa Conference League with a victory over Omonia Nicosia (2:0). Even a draw with Hibernian worked in their favour, as they managed to equalise (1:1) in the 87th minute, away from home, and prevent their opponents from taking the lead.
Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock have mostly positive feelings from October as well. They first secured a dramatic 3:2 away victory over Dundee in the 87th minute after trailing 0:2. After the international break, they managed to defeat Rangers (1:0), making the most of the limited chances they created: 0.63 xG, 10 (3) shots, 32% possession. Despite facing intense pressure from Rangers (1.08 xGA, 15 (3) shots), Kilmarnock scored in the 87th minute.
Hearts vs Kilmarnock Prediction
Kilmarnock's defeat in the last round to Ross County (1:2) dampened the impression of their recent form. Additionally, Hearts have not lost in their last five encounters with Kilmarnock, albeit with only two victories (2:1, 1:0 — both away). Given Hearts’ current good form, they are likely to win, but we'll make a slightly more cautious prediction — a neutral handicap for the hosts.
