Belgium came through World Cup qualifying with a few setbacks. They secured their ticket to America only in the final round. Granted, it was easy to do so — they thrashed poor Liechtenstein 7:1. Even in a group with a minnow, as well as Wales, North Macedonia and Kazakhstan, the team conceded almost a goal per game (0.9). In their June warm-up matches, Rudi Garcia's team did not concede against Croatia or Tunisia, but in March, despite thrashing the USA, they still let in two.

Belgium's squad consists of the proven guard (Lukaku, De Bruyne, Courtois) and those for whom this will be a first tournament. For example, Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who only recently chose Belgium over Spain. He made his debut only on 2 June against Croatia.

Unlike Belgium, after the end of qualifying Egypt managed to take part in an official tournament. At the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Pharaohs went unbeaten for five matches (four wins, one draw) and only lost to Senegal (0:1) in the semi-finals. The match for bronze did not go well either (0:1 on penalties). However, in friendlies this spring, Hossam Hassan's team showed their best side: across three games, they did not concede once against Saudi Arabia, Spain and Russia, and picked up a notional seven points. Brazil also managed to settle the issue of victory only after the break (2:1).

Egypt are associated first and foremost with Mohamed Salah, still a Liverpool player. Omar Marmoush of Manchester City has arrived in America, but otherwise these are either players from less prestigious European teams or from the domestic league.
