Japan became the first team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, coming through qualification in phenomenal style. The team have excellent cohesion and physical readiness, so they certainly will not sit in a low block against a European giant. The presence of creative players such as Takefusa Kubo and Ritsu Doan guarantees constant pressure on the favourite's defensive structure and regular service into Flekken's penalty area.

The constant forward runs from the Dutch full-backs will leave space behind, which will lead to regular breakdowns in the Netherlands' transition phases. At the same time, the individual quality of Donyell Malen and Cody Gakpo will allow the Europeans to find gaps easily in the unstable central area of Japan's defence.
