Flick: "We must accept the defeat to Real Sociedad, it wasn't our day"

Barcelona's head coach, Hans-Dieter Flick, commented on the 1-0 La Liga defeat to Real Sociedad in the 13th round and the disallowed goal by Robert Lewandowski due to offside.

The Catalan side lost away in San Sebastian, with the Polish forward's 13th-minute goal being ruled out after a VAR review. The automatic offside detection system seemingly mistakenly flagged the striker's boot as offside.

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal was not included in the match squad due to an injury sustained in the Champions League clash against Crvena Zvezda, which ended in a 5-2 victory.

"Today wasn't our day. We have to come to terms with this result; the opponent played with great determination. There's no excuse for what we saw. We didn't create enough dangerous opportunities.

We started with good ball control, and I was pleased, but then we struggled on the pitch. We conceded a goal and made poor decisions in the final third.

I told the referee that the offside call on Lewandowski was a bad decision. That's all I can say for now.

We gave our best efforts to achieve a better result, but it wasn't our day.

Any team would miss Yamal, it's natural. I'm not sure if Lamine will return after the international break. I hope we learn more about his condition today; as of now, nothing is clear. We'll provide an update as soon as we know more," Flick told Marca.

Barcelona currently leads the La Liga standings with 33 points, while Real Sociedad sits eighth with 18 points.

In the next round, Hans-Dieter Flick's team will face Celta Vigo away on 23 November.
