Guardiola: "I feel sorry for Ten Hag, but he'll come back stronger"

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his thoughts on Erik ten Hag's dismissal from Manchester United.

The Red Devils announced the departure of the 54-year-old coach yesterday.

"I feel very sorry for him, it's one of the best jobs in football. There's only us, it's not teachers or architects or something like that.

I wish him all the best and he will come back stronger. If the results aren't good enough, you get sacked. No-one is different, myself included," Guardiola told the BBC.

Erik ten Hag took charge of Manchester United in the summer of 2022. Under his leadership, the team secured victories in the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. The Dutch coach had a contract with the club until the summer of 2026.

Rúben Amorim, whose departure was announced by Lisbon's Sporting, will become the new head coach of Manchester United.
