Lafrenière’s Contract Won’t Impact Shesterkin’s Deal with Rangers — THN

The long-term contract signed by New York Rangers forward Alexis Lafrenière on Friday, October 25, will not affect the salary of team goaltender Igor Shesterkin, whose contract is set to expire after the 2025/2026 season, reports The Hockey News.

“Lafrenière’s new deal won’t interfere with Shesterkin’s negotiations. A look at the Rangers’ salary cap shows GM Chris Drury has structured the roster to handle Lafrenière’s raise as well as Shesterkin’s extension next year,” the THN article stated.

Lafrenière recently signed a seven-year deal with a cap hit of $7.45 million. Previously, Shesterkin declined a record $88 million contract offer from the team.
