Ovechkin has moved up to second place in the NHL's goal-scoring list for the season

Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals in the NHL game against the St. Louis Blues. The game ended with a decisive 8-1 victory for the Capitals.

These goals were Ovechkin's 9th and 10th of the current season, moving him into second place on the goal-scoring list. The league's top scorers each have one more goal, with Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay), Sam Reinhart (Florida), and William Nylander (Toronto) all having scored 11 goals.

The Russian forward needs to score 31 more goals to match the scoring record of Canadian former forward Wayne Gretzky.
