Ovechkin has been named the third star of the day in the NHL
Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals in the NHL regular season game against the St. Louis Blues, which ended in an 8-1 victory, earning him the title of the third star of the day.
This was reported by the league's press service. Ovechkin now has 863 goals in the NHL, trailing only Wayne Gretzky, who has 894.
The second star of the day was awarded to New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes, who notched three points in the game against the New York Islanders, which ended 4-3 in overtime. The first star of the day went to New York Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick, who achieved a shutout in the match against the Detroit Red Wings, which ended 4-0.
