Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Liverpool are on an impressive unbeaten run spanning 17 matches, yet this doesn't imply they're invincible. Newcastle United attempted to break them but fell short. Will Everton, despite all modern trends, who remain Liverpool's eternal rival, manage to achieve what others haven’t? The Merseyside derby has been ongoing since October 1894, and this will mark their 245th meeting. Liverpool have the chance to secure their 100th victory in the derby.
Everton
The clash will take place at Goodison Park, where Everton noticeably have a better shot at least securing a draw. At the beginning of the season, they suffered two consecutive home defeats, conceding heavily: 3:0 to Brighton and 3:2 to Bournemouth. Since then, they've recorded two wins and three draws. Their most impressive result came with a 4:0 triumph over Wolverhampton, avenging a similar defeat at Old Trafford.
Liverpool
For Liverpool, this will be their second away game in a week. On Wednesday, they visited St. James' Park, where Newcastle United led 1:0 for a period following a stunning goal by Alexander Isak, but then Mohamed Salah’s brilliance shone through. The Egyptian netted twice and provided a perfect assist for Curtis Jones. The substitution appearance of Trent Alexander-Arnold also played a pivotal role, as the full-back assisted both of Salah’s goals. A thrilling 3:3 draw was the end result, an excellent score for the neutral fan but Liverpool's first dropped points in five outings.
Everton vs Liverpool Prediction
Everton have recently managed to triumph over Liverpool. Their last match ended 2:0 in favour of Everton at Goodison. Back in late spring, this very fixture caused Liverpool to falter in their title pursuit due to missed opportunities. They attempted 23 shots, yet the hosts crafted far more dangerous chances. We opt for an optimal handicap bet (+1.5) on Everton, as they've only suffered one home defeat to their arch-rivals in their last five matches.
