Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Southampton faced a tough midweek clash with Liverpool in the League Cup quarter-final (1:2), while Fulham were the team to hold Liverpool to a draw in their prior Premier League encounter (2:2). Does this mean Southampton are set for another defeat against the London side?
Fulham
Fulham have indeed been formidable. They first denied Arsenal a win (1:1) and then travelled to Anfield to snatch another point (2:2). They were somewhat fortunate when Andrew Robertson was sent off for an obvious foul, but let's not forget that Fulham were already leading 1:0 at that point.
Southampton
Southampton, on the other hand, seem unlikely to replicate such feats. After Cameron Archer, their top scorer, bagged his fifth goal of the season, Southampton were closer to suffering a heavy defeat against Liverpool than salvaging a draw within regulation time, with two of Federico Chiesa’s shots being crucially blocked. In their last Premier League outing, they found Tottenham Hotspur clinical in front of goal, culminating in a 5:0 defeat.
Fulham vs Southampton Prediction
Hence, Southampton’s almost unrested starting lineup will once again face intense pressure from a fresh and skilful opponent. A solid Fulham side are expected to come out on top in a match that promises to be generous in goals.
