Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Getafe remain outside the relegation zone mainly thanks to frequent draws, but they need wins to secure a more comfortable position. Espanyol, on the other hand, are struggling on the road, having lost their last five away matches.
Getafe
Getafe display very low scoring efficiency, averaging just 0.66 goals per match. However, they compensate with decent defending, at least compared to other lower-table teams, conceding an average of 0.86 goals. On home turf, they have lost just once, opting for a cautious approach—every match there has featured two goals or fewer. In their head-to-head encounters with Espanyol, they show a promising trend, having suffered only one defeat in eight meetings at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
Espanyol
Espanyol are in a difficult position, having lost seven of their last nine games. Their main issue lies in defence, which is among the weakest in La Liga, conceding 1.93 goals on average per match. Their away form exacerbates these woes, with six defeats in seven games and just three goals scored. In their encounters with Getafe, their goal record is sparse, having scored more than once in only one of their last eight visits. On four occasions, they left the field without a single goal.
Getafe vs Espanyol Prediction
Getafe have an excellent record against Espanyol, and considering the poor form of the visitors and their defensive frailties, the hosts have a good chance to secure a victory. With both teams' low scoring tendencies, the match is likely to see few goals.
